The skill system in Supermarket Chaos transforms your organizing ability as you progress through 4,668 products. Every correct shelf placement earns coins that you spend in the skill tree on permanent upgrades. Unlike temporary power-ups, skills persist for your entire playthrough and compound in value — a carrying upgrade purchased at item 100 pays dividends through item 4,000.
How the Coin Economy Works
Coins are the sole currency for skill upgrades. You earn them exclusively by placing products on correct shelf tags. There is no shop, no microtransactions, and no alternative coin sources. The rate is consistent per placement, meaning total coins scale linearly with progress. By the midpoint of a full playthrough, you should have enough coins to invest meaningfully across multiple skill branches.
Skill Categories
Movement increases walk speed through the supermarket. Essential for covering distance between scattered products and distant aisles. Read the movement upgrades guide for tier recommendations.
Carrying expands how many products you hold simultaneously. The Too Heavy achievement requires holding ten or more — only possible with carrying upgrades. See the carrying upgrades guide.
Search highlights correct shelf tags and helps locate misplaced products. Most valuable in late game when the last items hide in cluttered corners. Details in the search upgrades guide.
Auto-stocking efficiency streamlines placement animations and shelf organization. A quality-of-life upgrade best purchased after core carrying and movement tiers.
Accessing the Skill Tree
Open the pause menu or dedicated skill interface during gameplay. Nodes display coin costs and upgrade effects. Purchase upgrades immediately upon earning enough coins — there is no advantage to hoarding. If your skill tree appears empty despite earning coins, follow the missing skills troubleshooting guide.
